“What’d you find?” Heidi asks when Marcus and McCoy troop back into the bullpen, each toting a cardboard evidence box full of bagged items.

Marcus thumps his box down on his desk and starts pulling out hardbacks sealed in clear evidence bags. “Avery Jamison’s entire catalogue, it looks like. Including the old ones.” He lifts a paperback next.

McCoy joins him, his box full of magazines and computer print-outs. “Then there were the interviews and articles. A few of her blog posts.”

“We dropped the computer off at the lab on our way in,” Marcus says, “so the tech guys can check his Internet activity.”

“Good.” Heidi feels a surge of satisfaction that the dominoes are falling into place. “How’s April’s attitude? Is she standing by her man?”

Marcus and McCoy share a glance that immediately sours her little swell of hope.

“What?”
